If you've got a minute to spare, read this brilliant article about how the small fandom of Twilight exploded into a pop-culture phenomenon.

As much as I like that Twilight is gaining more followers, I do miss the days when only a handful of us knew what Twilight even was.

(Expect more frequent posts from now on; this is what happens when you're jobless and have unlimited time on your hands.)

And this is why we love NYMag.com, aside from their weekly dissection on Gossip Girl.
They have a slideshow on 28 Reasons why they think the movie is better than the book.
And as usual, it is hysterical. Here are some of our favorites:

#19:
When Bella's mom hears that her daughter has a boyfriend, she demands, "Are you being safe?" We foresee a whole new tie-in line of armor-plated Twilight condoms!

#26:
Uh, Alice jumps onto James and TOTALLY BREAKS HIS NECK!

#28:
"And so the lion fell in love with the lamb," Bella says. In the book, you just roll your eyes. In the movie theater, everyone cheers wildly.

OK! Philippines has a feature on Robert and Kristen. Click here to download the scans.
Robert has only kind words to say about Kristen:

Can you describe each of your co-stars in one word?
...Kristen, I don't know. I can't describe her in one word. Just working with Kristen, it's nice to work with someone who you can see what they're going to become. She's going to be the biggest star. [Laughs] Everything I say is really over complimentary, but she is, though, she's really, really good. She's been good in everything she's done, which is really weird because she's really young. She's a lot better than I am. It's kind of embarassing. I can't even look her in the eyes in scenes anymore. I try to find excuses.

Aawww...that is utterly sweet of him to say. :)

Bloody hell! According to the Hollywood Reporter, the sixth installment to the Harry Potter franchise, "Half-Blood Prince", will be released next year, instead of this November as was previously announced.

In a surprise move, Warner Bros. has moved the release date of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" from Nov. 21 to July 17. Warners president Alan Horn blamed last winter's 100-day WGA strike in large part for the shift, suggesting all the major studios have been hurt in the development of new tentpole films for next summer.

What a real bummer. We were actually hoping the release of HP in November would keep us busy 'til Twilight's turn in December.
This is going to be a loooong wait. Can you imagine if the same thing happened to Twilight? Worldwide protest from rabid fangirls would ensue, us included of course. Haha.
Oh dear. Let's cross our fingers and hope that never happens.

Remember that Entertainment Weekly cover we posted a few weeks back? If you don't, let this refresh your memory:

Yeah, well the cover has landed on LA Times "Top 10 Magazine Covers that Shook the World".

'Twilight' vampire not hot-blooded enough

When author Stephenie Meyer wrote that “Twilight” hero Edward, the 17-going-on-108-year-old vampire, is supposed to be dazzlingly, blindingly beautiful, we’re pretty sure she didn’t mean in a rosy-lipped female kind of way. Pity then poor Robert Pattison, an actor whose one only claim to fame thus far is his small role as Harry Potter rival Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” The backlash was immediate. Once MTV.com posted an early preview of the cover, the site attracted hundreds of comments including this one from a poster identified as “Horrified”: "Edward looks like a ZOMBIE. The stylists and photographer obviously had no idea who the characters are…he looks like a hairy, powdered donut."

Heck, negative publicity is still publicity. And besides, you know you've made it big when the publicity you create is ranked along the likes of a totally naked John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and of Kanye West pulling a Jesus Christ -- some of the other controversial covers that landed on the list.

It's official, there's no stopping the Twilight mania. It's set to conquer the world, one fanpire at a time.

From Comcast.net:

Would you do anything for an interview with a vampire? ...There’s some serious “Twilight” hype going on and Comcast.net will be right in the thick of it. We’ll be interviewing the stars of the upcoming movie, including Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, and we want to know your burning questions.

What we're "burning" to ask them:

Stephenie Meyer:
What is your favorite book among the 4 (including Breaking Dawn)?

Catherine Hardwicke:
What is your favorite scene in the movie?
Funniest thing to happen on the set?
Will the cast be visiting Asia anytime soon to promote the movie?

To the actors:
Any on-the-set crushes?
Craziest fan experience?

To Kristen:
Did Rob dazzle you?
Is he a good kisser?
Wasn't there any attraction whatsoever between the two of you off-cam? (And no, we don't give a damn if you have a boyfriend.)

To Robert:

WILL YOU MARRY US?

That's all. :D

Twilight the movie is scheduled for release on December 12. That's in the United States. In our case here in the Philippines, release is pushed back to January 8 to give way to the Metro Manila Film Festival entries. How sad right?
Fortunately, some genius Twilighter set up a petition asking the Ayala malls to air the movie on December 12 or earlier. Signature goal is 5,000 and as of this writing, there are already 3,266 signatures. Please take a minute of your time to sign this petition. Or better yet, invent a time machine that can bring us to the future so we can watch the damn movie already!

On another topic, the Philippine Daily Inquirer has quite a lengthy article on Twilight. PDI is the best newspaper. Always was, always will. :) Click on the scans to read them.
